She already killed his masters as well. But I am not sure that will soothe him at this point.

Nope, I think she's past the threshold of resolving this non-violently.

She dropped her holy symbol. Lights out? Or the spell continues a bit?
Rudofaux 20th Dec 2017, 9:40 PM edit delete reply
Rudofaux
It continues on. The holy symbol has Continual Light blessed upon it so it acts like a lantern with holy benefits.

More of less.

The light keeps going a few minutes after she uses the spell, no worries.

She's well on her way to being an effective Sword and Board. Just needs a shield to bash things with.

Just killed two of your friends in one round and now your angry? Not that smart are you? Btw were did the monster bite her?

At her waist, you can match up the armor
Rocktopus 21st Dec 2017, 1:37 AM edit delete reply
Rocktopus
Yep, right in the waist. If you look closely in panel 3, you can see little teeth holes. I guess it was easier to spot in the enlarged version of the image I have while drawing it.

I have bad vision so sometimes it is just me.
Auraknight 21st Dec 2017, 5:28 PM edit delete reply
I think a little tint of green would go miles to showing that, the holes are practically invisible!

Uh oh. The bites are a bad sign... doesn't varguoille bite infect the victim with the same condition? Of course, being priest, she probably knows the spell to reverse the effect, but still... if she's not aware of the effects of varguoille bite...

Don't worry, unlike most fantasy fiction, armor in my world actually protects you when it gets hit :P
Quieteyes 23rd Dec 2017, 11:27 PM edit delete reply
I always figured that if a creature's attack succeeded against the PC's Flat-Footed Armor Class but not against their straight-up Armor Class, that the armor took the hit.

What's actually the most impressive here is that Vargouilles have more HP than a normal attack with a mace can deal unless you have a STR mod of +11. While criticals are possible...
Azith 22nd Dec 2017, 5:43 AM edit delete reply
I jumped to Pathfinder first, but then remembered to check 3.5, where Vargouilles can be taken down by an average hit from a mace.

I don't take HP values too literally. While I am trying to be somewhat faithful to an RPG campaign, HP and levels are just too abstract a concept to actually work in a story. Whether your a level 1 human fighter or a level 10 human fighter, a battleaxe to the head is still a battleaxe to the head, no matter how much hp you have, you know?

Marblegate takes cues from D&D and Pathfinder, but it's story first, gameplay references second.

Think of Hp as a shield. Yes you got hurt from that hit but it did not hit anything vital. If it drops to zero more of a chance to be killed. Also, the body is resistant to cuts and punctures.

Did she switch hands after bashing that vargouille? I thought she was using her right hand, but it looks like she's holding it in her left in that last panel.
The Prime Turtle 22nd Dec 2017, 2:36 PM edit delete reply
Looking again, is it just the follow through?
Rocktopus 22nd Dec 2017, 3:44 PM edit delete reply

She's still holding it in her right hand in the last panel; her right hand is on the left side behind her torso.

Guess she is a head hunter now...
