Actually, most told time by how much light there was. If you could see, it was time to get up and get to work. If you couldn't it was time for bed [which is why they didn't sleep in cellars much.] Only them fancy city folk needed a closer guess than a look at the sun would provide.

Church bells were definitely timekeepers for people who are part of the church, though

When dungeoneering becomes just another 9-5 job, you sincerely hope that going "back to the grind" each day does not turn into a literal statement.
Rocktopus 16th Sep 2018, 12:41 AM edit delete reply
Same with "nose to the grindstone"

What's up with her holy symbol? She needed a match to make a light so it wasn't some kind of night light.
Was it acting as a ward or an alarm or something? Do low level clerics have those kind of spells?
Rocktopus 16th Sep 2018, 12:40 AM edit delete reply
She's using both; she has her holy symbol hanging inside the closest there to get dressed in panel 3, and she has the candle burning for some extra light in the room. I'm actually going to come back to this page some time and make it more clear in panel 3 that she has both lights on, when I have time to.

Also, she was using her light as a night light, but it doesn't give off any heat. It's cold down in the basement so I imagined she uses the candle to warm it up a bit while she does her morning routine

"Hey, you're actually up this time!" -Colleen

That statement would imply that he actually fell asleep. I'm thinking that Randulf is on the tail end of an all-nighter drinking his character.

Can't really say much about this page. I like the fact that the lighting in her room is interesting. Most people really don't understand how dark something can be without little lights that most people are used to.
Rocktopus 16th Sep 2018, 7:43 AM edit delete reply
Well thanks for saying that!
Lurker 17th Sep 2018, 3:05 PM edit delete reply
The first 3 panels would have been solid black had she not left her light on... :-P

When to a cave once, the ranger turned off the cave lights it was so dark I could see my cellphones display through my jeans.

Mother and father? I wonder if that letter is for Colleen's actual parents or for someone in her home temple, well could actually be both.

The entire town is nothing but one big Mimic!
Garth MindFeather 18th Sep 2018, 3:32 PM edit delete reply
the entire town! once mimics become the size of planets and begin luring down fleets of space-faring colonists the game is over.
Lurker 18th Sep 2018, 10:18 PM edit delete reply
Entire planets are only the beginning. Imagine a mimic the size of the solar system... or worse, the size of an entire galaxy. But once we start going there, we might as well have a mimic the size of the universe... which then begs the question: can we tell whether we live in a real universe, or a sufficiently-detailed mimicry of the universe? :-D
MajorDZaster 28th Feb 2019, 6:33 AM edit delete reply
If that was so, then why isn't that guy who does the checks on adventurers when they exit the portal constantly getting a 'mimic detected' alert everywhere he looks when using the mimic lens?
You can't just make it ignore the universal mimic, because normal mimics are part of it, and thus would go by undetected as well.
And a 'double mimic' check would just make everyone's brain hurt...

Ooh, that last panel is so beautiful! It makes me wish it took up a wide shot just so we could see more of it.
