Well, truth be told, I couldn't give her a better advice either. Sometimes toughening up and bulldozing it through is the only possible solution, insensitive as it may sound.

True that

While it is true that dungeon survival is difficult I wonder if his past is making him careless...
Photomaginarium 23rd Oct 2018, 7:20 PM edit delete reply
tough it out? alright ... then again, there is something to be said for mewling.

also sobbing, shrieking, and the uncontrollable shakes.

after all, evolution gave us these tools after hundreds of millions of years of trial and error, in its pursuit to perfect the species and its relentless drive for survival. might as well put them to use.
Dreadder 23rd Oct 2018, 8:00 PM edit delete reply
Hmm, I don't know about that, since it also "gave" us depression and various other disorders as well, not to mention all the other less desirable traits.

That being said, the tools you mention can act as a security valve for letting out terror but there's time and place for that and I don't think the middle of the most hostile dungeon known to man (and dwarf) is either of those. ;)

Well I guess we'll have to see if Colleen's "scream into a pillow" method or Randulf's "bottle it up and keep going method" works out in the end!
Edmund 26th Oct 2018, 4:29 AM edit delete reply
Will we see her doing that?
Rudofaux 23rd Oct 2018, 7:31 PM edit delete reply
Randulf a dwarf of many things; Mentor, survivor, Motivational speaker...

Miner, Warrior, Professional Swimmer, Winetaster, Actor, Author, Poet, Painter, Banker, Smuggler, Drug Peddler, Mystic, Pole Vaulter, Boat Rigger, Noble, Priest, Mathematician, Party Crasher, Party Starter, Woodsman, Lumberjack, and Chronic Alcoholic.

6 of the above are not a joke and canon.
Rudofaux 26th Oct 2018, 9:17 PM edit delete reply
My guess; Warrior, Winetaster, Noble, Mathematician, Party Crasher & Party Starter (both are one & the same), & Chronic Alcoholic.

I'm gonna guess Drug Peddlar is not one of them, otherwise he would have hooked Colleen up by now.

Marblegate: You don't need to be high to keep going down there, but it helps.

He left out the most important piece of advice: after a traumatic dungeoneering experience, drink ludicrous amounts of alcohol to help forget. Every day.
Rocktopus 24th Oct 2018, 11:10 PM edit delete reply
Rocktopus fact, just do it even if you had a great day.

If you scared it will help to ask questions. Am I afraid of dying from the fall or afraid that the fall will not kill me and that something else will? I don't know if Feather Fall is a known spell in this world but a token of feather fall should be a very good item to have.
Rocktopus 24th Oct 2018, 11:10 PM edit delete reply
Good advice
ThorinSchmidt 24th Oct 2018, 1:28 PM edit delete reply
Feather Fall does exist (unless the author left it out) but its a magic spell, not a divine one, so Colleen will have to find one or purchase one.
Stevie 24th Oct 2018, 2:58 PM edit delete reply
he's right, you know
Rocktopus 24th Oct 2018, 11:13 PM edit delete reply
Featherfall does exist in this world; but magic isn't something most people know very much about.

The Arclight Mages' College (The place where the Arch wizards rule over) has invested interest in hoarding arcane magic knowledge to itself and only letting "approved members" have access to it.

Most of the wizards you see running around the town of Marblegate are students or graduates of Arclight.

"setback, but not the end of things."

Thanks for that panel as a separate image. I think I will adopt that as my personal mantra. I've also adopted Randulf's first First Rule of Dungeoneering - 'assume everything is trying to kill you', specifically when cycling through town. I can see a book 'The Wisdom of Randulf' as a spin-out publication.

If it is made, it'll have 27 chapters, all named Chapter 1
Rocktopus 24th Oct 2018, 11:14 PM edit delete reply
There are 23 books in the series, and all of them are the first book in the series.
