stevie 8th Nov 2018, 5:50 PM edit delete reply
huh,Collen just needed to pray while i needed to go into a temple, fight rats that turn into Giant Rats, not fall into an abyss, renact Luke v. Darth Vader with a 7"11 knight, all just to get a magic sword that opens all doors.
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:58 PM edit delete reply
What game's that a reference too? lol
Rudofaux 8th Nov 2018, 6:32 PM edit delete reply
Colleen clearly has some good training whilst in the monastery. Her combative skills are clear, she just needs to see that for herself. Rundolf can see that thru hungover/drunken eyes.
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:57 PM edit delete reply
Yup! She was trained beforehand! You'll learn more about that next chapter!
knight from the edge 8th Nov 2018, 8:12 PM edit delete reply
OH SNAP!!! colleen got spiritual weapon!!! thats perfect for her and that also means SHE LEVELED UP!!!

also this is what her new spell does...

Spiritual Weapon

Level: 2
Casting time: 1 Bonus Action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V, S
Duration: 1 minute
You create a floating, spectral weapon within range that lasts for the duration or until you cast this spell again.
When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack against a creature within 5 feet of the weapon. On a hit, the target takes force damage equal to 1d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier.

As a bonus action on your turn, you can move the weapon up to 20 feet and repeat the attack against a creature within 5 feet of it.

The weapon can take whatever form you choose. Clerics of deities who are associated with a particular weapon (as St. Cuthbert is known for his mace and Thor for his hammer) make this spell’s effect resemble that weapon.
Edmund 9th Nov 2018, 5:15 AM edit delete reply
I never quite understood what those 'component' parts mean. Is it V for vocal and...C for chant???
Edmund 9th Nov 2018, 5:16 AM edit delete reply
DA. Not C it's S my bad. See I Have no clue what that S stands for....
sd;oughsifodg 9th Nov 2018, 6:01 AM edit delete reply
S stands for "somatic" which means "of the body", i.e. moving your body (well hands mostly) in a specific gesture.
aldifliahsdf 9th Nov 2018, 6:02 AM edit delete reply
V stands for verbal rather than vocal, but same thing really.
Product Placement 12th Nov 2018, 8:00 AM edit delete reply
Product Placement
V = Verbal. The caster needs to be able to speak, in order to cast the spell. Stuff like the silence spell can be used to prevent it.

S = Somatic. Caster needs to be able to move. If he's tied down, grappled or something else is preventing free movement, it can't be cast.

M = Material. Caster needs a specific material for spell. Usually handwaved by carrying around a bag of components, unless the item needs to be valuable (like diamonds). Item is spent when spell is cast.

F = Focus. Same as Material except the item is not spent.

DF = Divine focus. Same as Focus but is usually some type of specific Holy Symbol. Applies mostly to Cleric/Paladin spells.

XP = Spell costs experience points.

She uses the spell: "Swing For the Bleachers"
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:57 PM edit delete reply

A wee bit late for that now!
ThorinSchmidt 9th Nov 2018, 1:21 PM edit delete reply
aaaaaand now we know exactly which part of the dungeon the spectator was set to guard.
ThorinSchmidt 9th Nov 2018, 1:25 PM edit delete reply
It's too bad really, the older versions of D&D made it so the weapon was semi-autonomous. You basically told it to "sic 'em" and were free to ALSO attack with your actual weapon. very nice at low levels. it essentially gave you two attacks per round.
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:56 PM edit delete reply
"Pathfinder" Spiritual Weapon is the best!
Derrick 9th Nov 2018, 3:27 PM edit delete reply
Send it to the sword
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:55 PM edit delete reply
Is that a quote from something? It sounds like it is.
Derrick 14th Nov 2018, 9:50 PM edit delete reply
translation of dues mitte gladius from latin to english.
My bad, it's suposed to be god sent sword or god send it to the sword. Deus = god/divine, mitte = send/sent, gladius = sword
Rocktopus 15th Nov 2018, 5:11 AM edit delete reply
Oh, I got ya! Ya, her text translates roughly out to "God, send your sword"
Rodryg 9th Nov 2018, 8:07 PM edit delete reply
Im wondering now what other deities exist in this world beside Highfather ? Is he "one true god" or are there others cults and religions ?
Rocktopus 9th Nov 2018, 8:51 PM edit delete reply
Good question! There are lots of other gods in the world of Marblegate.

The Church of the Highfather is the largest religion in the world, and at least some of his adherents can be found in every realm. According to the Church, the Highfather is the one that created the world (although many other religions don't agree with this) and was the first god; which is why his adherents are not allowed to worship other gods.

Other gods and religions include (to name a few):

Myosa and Mydus; the elven gods of the Sun and the Moon and the main gods who the high elves worship.

The more than 20 gods of the Halflings, each one representing some different aspect of their lives (halflings tend to co-opt gods of other religions and add them to their own pantheon).

Dwarf religion is a confusing and overly-complex thing with over 700 different holy texts and 300 supplementary works. Due to the insanely convoluted nature of their faith, there are thousands of different denominations, and religious bureaucrats that spend literally centuries arguing with one another over what the true doctrine is. Some dwarves believe in their own dwarven gods, other practice ancestor-worship, some do both, some do neither, most don't even try to understand.

There are several Fey gods, but most of them are more like really powerful immortal creatures than actual gods.

There are several gods and tribal religions of the barbaric races such as orcs and their warrior-spiritualism.

There is the Collector; a sort of Grim-Reaper-esque figure that serves as the god of the dead.

Lastly, there's the Dark God and his 7 Aspects. The Dark god is a being that is demonized in most civilizations, and is believed to be the source of all evil by the Church of the Highfather. There are also 7 evil gods that serve him, and are believed by some to be merely extensions of the Dark God himself.

This has been Theology with Rocktopus.

That's awesome Rocktopus! Thanks for the background. Knowing all that is going on in the background really helps flesh out the world

very nice work on those unusual and highly dynamic panels. excellent. interesting low-down with the god situation. i have an old friend who is the manager of a head shop back in texas -- i think he prays to the Highfather, too. i'm not sure he gets a fancy spiritual weapon out of the deal, tho.
