Sorry about the 7 day delay; I moved in to a new place this last week and have spent most of my time packing boxes, moving furniture, and then unpacking boxes! I'm all settled now and things should be back to normal.

Let's hope someone has cure disease cause else she's going to be having one hell of a day.

Also reminds me of a passage in my Biology book:

mycosis: The general term for an infection in an animal by a fungal parasite is mycosis.

"Systemic mycoses, by contrast, spread through the body and usually cause very serious illnesses. They are typically caused by inhaled spores. For example, coccidioidomycosis
is a systemic mycosis that produces tuberculosis-like symptoms in the lungs.
Each year, hundreds of cases in North America require treatment with antifungal drugs, without which the disease could be fatal."[1]

As described, the teleport scrolls are just that. You walk a block/mile/whatever. At whatever point you want you read the scroll and are returned to the start. When you enter again, you are returned to the reading point and can continue, or you can turn around and go back to any area you have visited before [ignoring cases like you get badly hurt going down a cliff, read, heal up and return, only to find the cliff is unclimbable]. So they would seem to be able to return to any water they found. Now of course, they may well not want to. It could be water, or "water", and a cleared room is not necessarily safe. It is broke however, and so going back to town is likely wiser.
Rocktopus 25th Nov 2018, 11:52 PM edit delete reply
Oops! I meant to delete my comment and accidentally deleted the whole thread!

You're close; the teleporter scrolls take you back to the nearest teleporter room that they're connected too. When you use them outside the teleporter room, they leave an "locator" in the spot that they were used, which allows the teleporter to open a portal up again at that exact same spot, provided you still have the same used-up scroll that dropped the locator.

Those locators only last for a day or two before fading away, meaning that by now, the locator on the floor with the mimic is long gone... and so is the floor. The only way to get back to it now would be to take the stairs and hope you miraculously get the same floor you did already (which as almost never, ever happened).

Teleporter scrolls are only good for 1 use, then they're spent. But the locator that they drop can be reuesd over and over again at the teleporter room to reopen portals back to where the locator was dropped, provided it hasn't faded away yet.

Exactly how the teleporter works will be made more clear in future chapters, when it's important!

Who said anything about undressing? Her clothes need as much of a wash as she does.
P.S. Pretty sure create water creates the water all in one go, so if she wants an effective clean she'd better lie down face up before casting it, then brace herself for the sudden kinetic (and potentially temperature based) shock as the water lands on water with quite a bit of force.
P.P.S. About the last bit, the water WILL hit hard enough to catch her off guard if she isn't ready. I can testify to that personally, thanks to my visits to waterparks.

Well at this point nothing is confirmed then.
On the other hand, eyes seem to be a key point in in this worlds religion of this particular diety. Is there a reason behind this? If it's a plot point I won't press but it seems like a reoccurring theme at the very least.
Rocktopus 27th Nov 2018, 7:01 AM edit delete reply
Sure, it's a bit of expanded lore. "The Eye of the Highfather" is a key symbol of the Highfather's church. The Highfather does not look like a person; his true form is indescribable and inscrutable (a bit like a benevolent, angelic-looking version of a Lovecraftian eldritch god).

The Eye is based on an excerpt from their holy scripture, where the prophet, Saint Stromulus witnessed a tiny sliver of the Highfather descending from heaven. He describes

"...and then I saw descending from the parted clouds a colossal, gleaming, writhing mass of angelic shapes that stretched in every direction as far as the eye could see. And at the center of it was a single great eye; shining like the sun. And around the eye, countless millions of terrifying angels were flocking and singing hymns too beautiful to be sung with human voices. And both the great Holy mass, and the millions of angels that flocked around it, were covered with many eyes that looked back and forth across the world.

This is how the glory of the Highfather appeared to me."
