High powerful arch wizard and a very neat office, so awesome.

Thanks! I was happy with this page.
Bookeater_otaku 20th Mar 2020, 4:06 PM edit delete reply
What a beautiful page. There is SO MANY details! There is knickknacks everywhere, all kind of different stuff but everything is well organized. As mage lab goes, this is a great one.
Bookeater_otaku 20th Mar 2020, 4:08 PM edit delete reply
And I love those winged bird paws that levitate the stuff he need for him! I spotted a few around the page. What are they?
Rocktopus 20th Mar 2020, 4:44 PM edit delete reply
Rocktopus
Thanks! They are little magical laboratory helpers that high-ranking Wizards have to help cut down the immense amount of time it takes to do complex arcane magic.

that flimsy beard is clearly hiding the twitchy tentacles of an illithid ... it's a mind flayer in disguise!

sorry ... sorry ... i keep having flashbacks to that ONE NIGHT when our DM went off the rails ...

Oh, so you were playing THAT kind of game ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I like the winged scroll-holder.

For the most powerful wizard in the world, he's remarkably polite and sane. Could this be some kind of trick?
BlackRing57 21st Mar 2020, 6:03 PM edit delete reply
Perhaps, considering he is not Istari.

He is not an Istari, right?

I like the staff-stand, I don't know why, I just like it and I want one...and a staff like that one too ;)

Part of me really wants his desk.

The rest of me recognizes the desk is incredibly impractical and inefficient.
someone 21st Mar 2020, 12:49 AM edit delete reply
It's more an altar than a desk, really.
Guest 21st Mar 2020, 1:57 AM edit delete reply
What if it is half-way hollow on the other side, such that the legs can be there?
Blackwing 21st Mar 2020, 2:32 AM edit delete reply
What I want to know is how he gets books in and out of the top shelf.
Guest 21st Mar 2020, 8:47 AM edit delete reply
That's a good question. Maybe a part of the front of the desk are two doors, one for each side of the bookcase? Maybe the doors can swing out? Or maybe slide? It might also be a magical way. Though, the front of the desk does not really fit with the dimensions of sliding doors, and there are no (visible) lines that indicate that only a part of it is doors. Swinging doors should still work with what is visible, however, as far as I can tell.

For it to swing out or slide, it would likely be useful with some sort of knob or handle to grab the door with. It might also require magic such that the doors cannot be opened physically, only by using magic, which would be a handy security mechanism if the holes in the doors have glass in them. And some sort of security mechanism would be especially valuable for wizard books.

The shelves on the inside move up and down
Guest 25th Mar 2020, 7:34 AM edit delete reply
Ah, that's a pretty nice way, and makes more sense than my ponderings.
Bookeater_otaku 27th Mar 2020, 3:01 AM edit delete reply
Humm, then maybe the shelves inside the desk shouldn't be at the same height. Like one side we could peek that there is more below or up and it obvious that there is more to the shelves than bad design for the upper one.

I kind of like riddles, such as with having a pear inside a bottle where the opening of the bottle is far too narrow for the pear to pass through. Once you learn how it is done, it makes perfect sense.

Is... That a Trogdor figure on the staff.
someone 21st Mar 2020, 12:50 AM edit delete reply
No, look at the orb: it's held by the dragon's other arm. Trogdor has only one arm.

it's the dreaded double-trogdor...the worst kind...they can burninininate

The details in his study are really cool. Really moves the imagination to guess what the purpose of some of these strange items might be for.

It's more comfortable, and if you make a snide comment about it he can enchant you into being convinced it's the height of elegance.

Well, everything on that shelf behind him sets off my skyrim looting instincts. And that's a really cool staff. And that shelf might have books missing from my quest to collect one of every book... Time to find a bucket and strip this room bare.

Hmm is the geas that the damn faun gave her going to come in to play when the wizard tries to use his helper spirit to take the note from her?
padanew 23rd Mar 2020, 3:12 AM edit delete reply
padanew
I just think the faun just did not want to wait to see the wizard.
David Argall 25th Mar 2020, 12:55 AM edit delete reply
Possible, but I think the majority vote is that the faun has very good reason to want to be anywhere but close when that letter is opened. No definite idea what, but it is likely to be more than being bored when he has to wait so long.
Guest 25th Mar 2020, 7:37 AM edit delete reply
"Majority vote"? Well, we've now seen the waiting time required for delivering a letter personally to the archmage, and it is definitely very long.
Darkening 25th Mar 2020, 4:55 PM edit delete reply
To be fair, for a lot of lesser Fae it'd be very on brand to be too impatient to want to wait hours doing nothing if it was at all avoidable. Greater Fae tend to be more the, centuries are but moments type, but the more down to earth ones like satyrs tend to be... flighty.

I really love the attention to detail you have in your comic! Like how the bookshelf has precisely one missing book, likely the one the wizard is currently using! Fantastic stuff :).
