Wow...they're bad enough to make Dwarves question free drinks...
Bookeater_otaku 30th Oct 2020, 4:40 AM edit delete reply
It was the sissy Elf blue wine that warranted the "what the hell". No dwarves worth their salt would drink such mud water.

The beer on the other hand is a welcome gift.

The comment about chafing would probably give most people pause when being handed drinks, I would imagine.

f--- those guys

it's obvious that they're gonna die down there, and not in any sort of "last heroic stand defending each other to the death" kinda way

why did he think those rich brats were worth anything?

I imagine the opportunity to hang around with lesser nobility and wealthy people would seem like a really good thing at first when you grew up dirt poor like Ozzi did.
Bookeater_otaku 25th Oct 2020, 2:57 AM edit delete reply
Opponi drops and Black Rats Gang, two pieces of the puzzle that is Ozzie. He is also a character that need money I think, that's his reason for delving in the Marble Gates Dungeon, so he own drugs money to the Black Rats Gang?

And his past?? drugs consumption and poor upbringing seems to be a sensitive subject for him. Sensitive enough for it to be the last drop that overflow the shit bucket that is this team.

And I am suuuuure they would absolutely allll risk their lives fir each others. Can't wait to see them trying to replace Ozzie and see how this goes.

Ah, "poor shaming", it truly sucks. Reminds me of "Mud Bloods" from Harry Potter, only this shit is real. I have experienced it.

I like the dwarves designs, there is a very 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Viking' to them. Even if Vikings didn't have horns on their helmets. Good they aren't Vikings then!

The woman costume one is really... fierce. And as push-up bras goes, steel got all the support flimsy fabric doesn't have. An Adventurers who use the plunging neckline as a distraction? Ventilation? Boob purse?

And those drinks look good. I want a beer now.
someone 25th Oct 2020, 7:53 AM edit delete reply
With that costume design, I bet the dwarf lady is bard.

Bags under your eyes can also be from malnutrition. He doesn't seem the type to be a drug user. Drug users only care about one thing. Take a guess what that is.
Guest 25th Oct 2020, 11:46 AM edit delete reply
Not all drugs are the same dude, even if it's addictive only the worst of the worst stuff stops you from caring about anything else. Some drugs aren't even addictive, that's not a requirement for something to be a drug. And even then how you react to it can vary from person to person.

Plus I think it's implied he used to be a drug user, not that he is one now. And becoming a heavy drug user is generally more caused by having a really shitty life and being in an environment where drug use is normal than what kind of person you inherently are.
Oldarmourer 25th Oct 2020, 11:50 PM edit delete reply
We have no idea what 'opponi drops' are...unless I'm failing to remember something of course ;)
They might be something to give you night vision that other dungeoneers consider to be 'cheap' and only used by thieves/rogues.
Or for something else entirely, such as correcting vision without glass lenses but with some side effects
On the other hand, things do get absorbed pretty quickly through the eyes...
And bags under the eyes can come from being tired...tired of this group's foolishness ;)
bel0919 26th Oct 2020, 1:30 PM edit delete reply
maybe it's a drug used to sooth hunger and other distresses afflicting poor people; perhaps it's like chewing coca leaves.

Lore drop!

Opponi Drops in this world are a liquid drug that people drip in their eyes and that makes them hallucinate. They are not incredibly addictive (at least compared to other drugs), but they are terrible for ones health, and prolonged use will eventually make them go blind, among other health problems. After only a few uses, the user starts forming black bags under their eyes that make it really obvious that they've used them. They are cheaper than most drugs and thus most common among the poor and underclasses of the region. Though not highly illegal, they are considered sinful by the church, so the common people associate the black bags under the eyes with lowlifes and criminals. "Badger Eyed" is an expression used in the nation of Sword Court to describe outlaws and scum of society, referring to the bags under the eyes of Oponi Drop users.

Although yes, Ozzi was malnourished for most of his life, being poor.
Blackwing 25th Oct 2020, 7:36 AM edit delete reply
I have to give a tip of the hat to Ozzi for just turning around and walking out of there. Other people might have confronted them and made a scene, but those pricks aren't even worth starting a fight over. Sometimes the best way to deal with jackasses is to just leave them behind and do what's best for you.
bel0919 25th Oct 2020, 10:23 AM edit delete reply
tbh i would have enjoyed seeing him confront them directly, but hey...
Bookeater_otaku 25th Oct 2020, 2:07 PM edit delete reply
That will happen later. He has to give them his resignation personally after all.
Oldarmourer 25th Oct 2020, 11:53 PM edit delete reply
He does ? I imagine his 'two weeks notice' will consist of "two weeks from now you'll notice I haven't been here for two weeks"
Thieves/rogues rarely start fights, not openly, they settle scores from time to time but direct confrontation isn't their style.

After a tough youth of living on the streets and being part of gangs, he's learned to avoid unnecessary conflict and drama.

Better to just disappear and cut your losses than start a fight that might end up hurting you later.

someone 28th Oct 2020, 6:24 PM edit delete reply

Screw those guys! I double checked, and Ozzi got JUMPED by the shark monster thing. He did not get a chance to decide between pulling the lever and fighting it. He was pinned down and couldn't do anything but defend himself. His team is WAY out of line, here.

Oh, and let's condemn the guy for (at least formerly) using a drug that's for "poor people" while one of them was using a drug WHILE THEY WERE IN THE DUNGEON. I don't care if a drug is for rich people or poor people, using it while you're in a life-or-death situation is highly irresponsible. By comparison, Ozzie is a saint.

I give these losers a week before they either get completely wrecked and possibly permanently disabled as a result of injuries they bring upon themselves through their reckless, myopic behavior or they suffer a total party wipe-out.

Man, I think the reason I find them so infuriating is I have to deal with coworkers with the same attitudes on a regular basis. But, I have to say, they're still well-written characters, even if they're insufferable. Their consistent in their behaviors, for one thing, and I'd go so far as to say there's even some nuance in the way their handled. It's one thing for characters to be intolerable because they're badly written, it's another to say they're intolerable because they're well-written. So, good job, Brett. I'm truly impressed with these irritating characters. Would I like to see them redeemed? Sure. But I'd find it equally satisfying for them to reap what they've sown, because that's what usually ends up happening to people who act like this. Their bad decisions and bad attitudes eventually come back to bite them in the butt. Regardless of how things go, I'm sure you'll make it interesting.

I think Rocktopus said before that some elements of the plot have changed from how they were planned since then so there is a chance we get our good boy Ox. But yeah probably not, I just hope he quits when Ozzi leaves or something rather than dies.
