There's gotta be a top dog. Now I wonder if ol' Aldos gets a nice slice of the earnings the town makes too. Y'know the deal. "I keep the kingdoms from warring over Marblegate... and you scratch my back..."

Arch Wizards are sort of like United Nations leaders in this world. They try and keep wars an magic from getting out of control.

But, then again, they are still people with their own interests...

Dungeon crawling is fun, but if all that was going on was an RNG dungeon, no onewould want to play a game like that, eh?

Well, I would, but most people wouldn't.

From an architectural standpoint, Aldos is making a very clear statement: "See that turret with inadequate support, I did that with magic. Isn't it great we are all playing nice?" At least that is how I take it.

Normally I'd cringe at that particular fantasy element, but he is an Arch-Wizard and that type of saber rattling insures the legions of corpses are occurring inside of Marblegate instead of outside. At the very least saving lives due to plague outbreaks that tend to accompany war.

So congratulations on the subtle, tasteful, application of Fantasy-Structures where it doesn't disrupt from the otherwise Late-Classical / Early-Medieval feel of everything else. I haven't seen it done as well in years and look forward to seeing more.

You're right. You can see on page 1-2 it's up on a hill right by the front gate. There's a reason for that.

And it's the same reason they never bothered finishing the rest of the wall or making it stone like the forts inside.
